Worth Seeing

 

  • The Holy Trinity Monastery (18th century). At a distance of 4 km SW. Worth to see the wonderful frescoes, manuscript Bible of 1672, and the cells that are built on the site of ancient ruins.
  • The villages Aigira (4 km E), Platanos (6 km west) and Trapeza (9 km W).
  • Ancient Aigira with archaeological finds from the third century. AD (Settlement, theater, and two temples).

 

 
Events

 

  • Feast of Saint Charalambos, 10 February.
  • Feast of St. Panteleimon in Aigira on July 27.
  • "Cultural Summer" with music, dance and theatrical events, book presentations and exhibitions of paintings and folk art.
  • Akrata’s Carnival with parade with floats, torch and the "Hunt for hidden treasure.

 

 
Activities

 

  • Swimming, fishing, diving and watersports on the beaches of Porovitsa , Krathion, Kryoneri, Platanos and Trapeza.
  • Hiking individualy or in group (with hiking clubs) on beautiful trails of varying degrees of difficulty. Typical is the way (4 hours duration) from Pigeon village (29 kms N) to Kalavrita through the Ski Centre and the peak of Helmos, Neraidorahi (altitude 2238 m), but also very interesting are the trails at Lake Tsivlou (23 kms N) with wooded slopes and the picturesque village Zarouchla (34 km N).
  • Mountain Bike.
