The town of Rio has become a hub, and connecting the Peloponnesos with western mainland Greece, In recent years, Rio attracts many visitors from Patras and the rest region , it combines mountain and sea and is filled with luxurious clubs, small bars, cafes, fashionable restaurants and taverns. The surrounding area (Agios Vasileios, Arachovitika, Drepano, Psathopyrgos, Rodini,) is one of the most popular of the county, with beautiful beaches, clear sea and tavernas, cafes and bars by the sea. It lies 9 km from Patras BA.

 
Worth Seeing

 

  • The “Castle of Moria” or “Nerokastro”. Built originally by the Turks in 1499 and in 1713 took its present form by the Venetians. It constitutes the duo Antirrio’s Castle on the opposite coast of Sterea Ellada.
  • The Bridge “Charilaos Trikoupis” impressive technological achievement is the main bridge (cable) which connects the road to Rio Antirio, and the approach viaducts with a total length of 2920 m. The project was completed in 2004 and has now been honored by the international scientific community with nine international awards.
  • The seaside village Arachovitika (11 km west), with the chlorinated spas and the seaside resort Psathopyrgos (12 km E) with a beautiful beach and lovely views.
  • The villages Kastritsi (14 km N), with breathtaking views and renowned production of cherries the Platani village (7 kms SE) with a triconch church of St. Nicholas (11th cent.), the few that survived the rhythm Achaia and and Sella (15 km SE), a mountainous village with traditional restaurants that offer unique flavors.
