Zarouchla

Zarouchla, village built in a wooded area with abundant water, chestnut and fir (1050-1200 m altitude). One kilometer from the village starts the Zarouchla’s forest which has an area of 20,000 sq.m. It is located 111 km from Patras NA.

 
Worth Seeing 
 
  • The churches of Agioi Taxiarhes , Metamorphosis, Agia Paraskevi, and Agia Triada.
  • The plane tree in Central Square and the monument of the village heroes fallen during the Balkan Wars (1912-13).
  • The fountain of Golfo, 8.5 km NW, in a beautiful landscape with trees.
  • Tsivlou Lake, 11 km NW. Located in a wooded area with a lot of spots for picniks along the  dirt road.
  • The waters of the Styx, stemming from the top of Mount Neraidorachi Chelmos, fall from a cliff of 200 meters and flow throughout the year. The legend states that Thetis washed her son Achilles in these waters, in order to become immortal. Access is from the villages Solos or Peristera, but the path is difficult and requires a 4x4 vehicle and mountaineering experience (hiking time approximately 3 hours).
