Archaeological_museum_of_Patras.jpgThe new Archaeological Museum of Patras is at the north entrance of town, on the New National Road Patras - Athens. It is a complex of buildings covering a total area 8.000 sq.m. The front is decorated by a dome, covered with titanium, which is based on a 500 sq.m. tank, connecting the museum with the liquid component and implying the relationship of the city of Patras with the sea. The exhibition is divided into three major themes that occupy respectively the three halls of the museum: the Hall of Private Life, the Hall of Necropolis and the hall of public life.

The museum includes a small auditorium of 150 seats, a showroom and a souvenir shop, locations serving the public, educational programs, multimedia room and virtual tours, a room for temporary exhibitions of 200sq.m and three rooms for the permanent exhibitions, covering a total area of 2600t.m. The surroundings of the museum is offers free parking for guests and a small park.

The exhibition is divided into three major themes that occupy respectively the three halls of the museum. These are the room of Privacy, the Hall of Necropolis and the hall of Public life. The first two were opened to the public on July 24, 2009 and the thirdis scheduled to open for the public by the end of 2010.
