It was founded in 1988 and since 2000 is operating within the frames of Municipal Enterprise of Cultural Development of Patras, with aim to present local art, to provide art education programs through the implementation of exhibitions and parallel events along with educational programs.

Partnerships with National Gallery, Benaki Museum, foundations and other galleries in our country, ensured representative exhibitions that record the history of Modern Painting, Sculpture and Engraving. Exhibitions to honor artists with an ambiguous and multidimensional work are also programmed frequently, thus contributing in highlighting the most salient representatives of Greek art.

Παράλληλα με τις εκθέσεις, οργανώνονται πλήθος εκδηλώσεων, όπως διαλέξεις, ξεναγήσεις, συναυλίες καθώς και εκδοτική δραστηριότητα, σε μια προσπάθεια να καταστεί η Πινακοθήκη κέντρο παιδείας και προβληματισμού. Οι ξεναγήσεις των σχολείων της Πρωτοβάθμιας και Δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης από επιστημονικό προσωπικό και η διανομή εκπαιδευτικών φυλλαδίων και εντύπων στους μαθητές, αποσκοπούν στην εναλλακτική εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία προσέγγισης ενός απαιτητικού και ιδιαίτερα δύσκολου από την φύση του τομέα της Τέχνης , καθώς και στη διάδοση των αξιών της παιδείας και του Πολιτισμού.

The museum has a shop that offers publications and directories on the activities of the Municipal Gallery and informational material regarding the the cultural events and institutions of the Municipal Entergrise of Cultural Development of Patras and other institutions of the city.
